Yes, the illusion worked for me, and the whole setup seems to be chosen to frustrate deconstruction.
It would be nice to stop the damn thing from spinning for a moment, and then move the camera up or down to get a better sense for the actual shape. I also find the sticker on the base disorienting because it is neither in plane nor orthogonal to the window’s plane. The busy background and odd lighting and shadow are not helping either.
