  1. Morgan says:

That’s really obvious. Is there something I’m missing? The change is the really huge thing, but changing slowly.

  2. G-man says:

no, then i cheated and it was clear as day.

  3. The base darkens over the whole thing, and there’s a little flutter on the peachy part in the middle right at the beginning.

  4. Steve Ulven says:

I didn’t notice as it was happening, but about 3/4 through I could tell that it has changed.

  5. Seraph says:

Haha didn’t find out, and then I cheated by scrolling forward…

  6. Mickey D says:

After cheating by scrolling back and forth I did see the change but at first look I didn’t…

  7. Teun Lucassen says:

I showed this one on a big screen to a full class of college students: no one spotted it until I showed them the first and last frame next to eachother.

  8. Thankfully “i” could, and you might also like to consider 4 seconds more were off your record, so it is a 44 seconds indeed, according to the clip tracker.

  9. Steve Paget says:

Surprisingly for me, yes! Does this mean I’m getting better, or is this not a very good example?

  10. Chris says:

This probably would have been much better if youtube hadn’t decided to somehow send me straight to the end of the video at the beginning and ruin the change

  11. NeonNero says:

I noticed that something was gradually changing, but I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what until I looked at the first and last frames of the video afterwards.

  12. nanda says:

world is chaning did you notice it

  13. patrick says:

the irony – my slow rural phone line connection problem meant it stuck and jumped – revealing the colour change instantly…

  14. Joanne says:

Just the big base changing colour, to a darker hue. Got it first time, but only just half way through. Am I missing something else?

  15. Kristian says:

The second time I pressed replay I saw it.
Now I’m wondering why I didn’t see it the first time I pressed replay.

  16. Ann says:

Only the second time. The first I was thinking that my computer connection might be off but the time was passing.

  17. wabasso says:

Is anyone else getting the YouTube/Flash buffering circles fading in slowly from the beginning of the video? I thought that was part of it and jogged the progress bar around so I accidentally cheated. I’ve never seen the loading logo do that before though.

    • David says:

      I get the same flashing.

    • namowal says:

I noticed the buffering circles too. I wasn’t sure if my internet connection was slow or they were included on purpose to help prime my brain that I was looking at a static image.
About half way through I sensed a color change, but it wasn’t until near the end that I figured out it was the base.

    • eh says:

Same here, I had to drop it to 240p.

  18. MetaThought says:

The Illusion: Colors naturally fade as you stare at them. The color on the picture can be gently faded and you won’t notice it.

  19. eh says:

I thought the upper side was becoming more bright in color! 😀

  20. Sari1967 says:

    I haven’t spotted it!

  21. Sari1967 says:

Now I see it had to cheat though

  22. bletherskite says:

Missed it completely the first time but got it on replay. Confirmed by replaying again and fast forwarding.

  23. tommeivind says:

    Im blind, what is it?

  25. Brian says:

I didn’t notice until about 35 seconds into the video. Even then I wasn’t sure so to confirm i paused it and switched back to 1 second to confirm and was right.

  26. The other Matt says:

First i thought that this is another trick and maybe a monkey is running through the picture and nobody will see them. Then i saw that somethig is becoming darker and darker. But i didnt find out what it is until i replayed the video.

  27. […] visto este vídeo en el blog de Richard Wiseman. Se trata de ver el vídeo e intentar ver cuál es el cambio que está […]

  28. jackjak says:

why don’t you add an pop-up scary face in the end of video
    : ) (i don;t like that pop-up too ^ ^” )

  29. Marion says:

I spotted it- but only after watching it four times! Took a while but I got there in the end.

  30. Mike Torr says:

I hope Google end up reading these comments, because they make it quite clear that the evidence is in favour of NOT STARTING VIDEOS AUTOMATICALLY. YouTube guys, are you listening? When I open a video, I want it to start when I’m ready, not straight away.

    Rant over 🙂

And yes, I actually noticed the change, but only by trying to remember how it looked at the beginning. It was not easy, but I did eventually get it without cheating, as the video continued.

  31. I did, but I’m a graphic designer, and colors are sorta my thing. Heh.

  32. Rudy says:

I guess I should fill something out though I am here visiting. Many thanks for putting up great stuff. It’s asking for a world wide web web-site here when I’m posting this, so here’s one that I had been just checking out. Get treatment.

  33. Good – I should definitely pronounce, impressed with your site. I had no trouble navigating through all the tabs as well as related information ended up being truly easy to do to access. I recently found what I hoped for before you know it at all. Reasonably unusual. Is likely to appreciate it for those who add forums or anything, web site theme . a tones way for your client to communicate. Excellent task..
