1234269388433I will be going to the States tomorrow to speak at the CFI World Congress.  They have a great line-up of speakers, including Christopher Hitchens, Elizabeth Loftus, James Randi and Paul Kurtz.
Back early next week to talk to the Edinburgh Skeptics Society and to co-present an event at the Edinburgh International Science Festival on the psychology of dance with Peter ‘Dr Dance’ Lovatt.

If you make it to any of then events, be sure to come and say hi.

  1. As a Perth resident (hi to Skeptic Zone listeners) – TV skeptic Richard Saunders and Dr Rachael Dunlop are heading to Melbourne on the 30th May to talk at the Uni of Melbourne on skepticism and quackery. If you’re interested in contributing to that tour, you can go to the SZ site and donate. I’m heading over to Melb myself to help out, but I know I’d love to have them come to Perth one day… (btw – the Perth Atheists, have meeting later this month and there is also our Philosophy club in Freo/Perth – will see the locals there!).

If you want to help liven up / attend the Aust Skeptics conference (this year it’s in Brisbane; for 2010 it’s Sydney), there’s the official site with contact details for suggested guests – so far Brisbane looks like it’ll be Dr Karl Kruszelnicki and Dr Krissie Wilson, amongst some others!

Should people be interested in having Dr Richard Wiseman return for 2010 (he was here in 2000, as you’ll know if you heard our Skeptic Zone interview!) – pop in a comment and maybe we can do some fundraising to help chip in for that too? 🙂

  2. That conference is practically in my back yard and I can’t go. I’ll sure you’ll have a great time. Can’t wait to hear all about it!

  3. At first I thought, hmm it’ll be a bit dear going to Brisbane for three days to attend a non-career oriented conference.

Then I came to my senses, see you in Brisbane.

I’ll have to pester a few of my Unitarian colleagues to come…actually not much hope of that. Skepticism is still a bit of an outlier in church groups.

    ^_^
