Richard’s research into the paranormal involves testing psychics, conducting extra-sensory perception experiments, investigating haunted locations, and examining belief in the paranormal. Richard is well-known for his skeptical stance on the paranormal, and much of this work examines how developing normal explanations for allegedly paranormal phenomena can help us to understand our brains, beliefs and behaviour.
In the same way space travel yields technology that transforms our everyday lives, so Richard believe’s that research into telepathy, fortune-telling and out-of-body experiences produces remarkable insights into our brains, behaviour and beliefs. This approach was explored in his book Paranormality.
