First, a quick plug for one of my favourite secret resources.  If you are into magic, juggling, fake psychic stuff, and the like, you should check out the great ebooks that are available on the Lybrary site.

OK, to the puzzle.

Please do NOT post your answers, but do say if you think you have solved the puzzles and how long it took. Solution on Monday.

Jenny and her friends have gone away for the weekend to a big country house.  She is having a secret affair with one of her friends and wants to pass a message to her lover.  She sneaks into the kitchen and leaves the following strange list.

sew
val
bead
ice
ben
hop
mat

Her lover adds a letter to each item in the list and instantly heads to part of the house.  Where does he go?

I have produced an ebook containing 101 of the previous Friday Puzzles! It is called PUZZLED and is available for the Kindle(UKhere and USA here) and on the iBookstore (UK here in the USA here). You can try 101 of the puzzles for free here.

    1. I got “porn toe” -fnar, fnar
It’s as much part of a house as Kami Karzi’s answer.

    1. Well done. Very nice alternative answer although he couldn’t go there. I don’t think you’re meant to post the answer by the way.

  1. ‘Captain Wow’, understand your annoyance, but your use of bad language makes you an idiot too. Kids could be looking at this.

    1. Richard has previously posted about a youngster who submitted a forced perspective photo. It is a fair assumption that children will read these puzzles and comments. Posting the answer clumsily is just that, clumsy. Composing such profanity is clearly considered and is totally irresponsible. You’ll no doubt tell me to ‘f’ off.

    2. They could be. They could also not be. I’ll take those odds. Especially when you factor in the language heard in and emanating from playgrounds.

And with reference to the post below this one, telling someone to “F off” would be unnecessarily rude of me.

  2. I definitely think comments should be suspended until the answer is given on Monday. Too many people spoil it for others, and people just boast about how quick they were at the best of times

  3. …or maybe just have a ‘report this post’ facility so anyone can temporarily suspend a post as soon as they spot a clear spoiler?

  4. If you don’t want the puzzle spoiled, why are you reading the comments before you solve it? Richard asks how long it took you, so comments of that nature are fine (even if exaggerated). Anyway, I don’t think he should “suspend the comments until Monday.” People can decide whether to read them.

  5. Easy, but I did let my eyes stray and saw a word in the comments, so I can’t honestly say that I solved it unaided. With that word, though, it took less than 30 seconds.
