There’s a statement on the Brighton council website about it which puts a positive spin on the hoax…
‘The video is a creative spoof, but it is making people smile and getting thousands of people talking about Brighton & Hove in the run up to Christmas – this has got to be good news for the city and good news for its traders.’

Snopes is your friend. They came out with this (“False” BTW) the day after the vid went viral. But it’s still cute.

Wait, so Snopes declares it false because a government entity that would be embarassed has denied it? They really have gone downhill.
