Dare you join the seance?

As it is almost Halloween, I thought it would be fun to put out a scary video clip. We created a binaural recording so that you have the impression the seance is actually happening around you. This only works if you have HEADPHONES on, so please go and get some and give it a try….

Scared?

Last wee I posted this puzzle…..

Four heterosexual men and four heterosexual women are shipwrecked on a desert island.

Eventually each one falls in love with one another, and is loved by one person.  John falls in love with a girl who is, unfortunately, in love with Jim.  Arthur loves a girl who loves the man who loves Ellen.  Mary is loved by the man who is loved by the girl who is loved by Bruce.  Gloria hates Bruce and is hated by the man whom Hazel loves.
Who loves Arthur?

If you have not tried to solve it, have a go now.  For everyone else, the answer is after the break. Continue reading

Amazing or sad? You decide….

Following on from the video that I posted yesterday, @vidyut sent me this…..

The video caused a bit of a storm on Twitter, with some people saying that it was one of the most amazing things they had ever seen, and others thinking that the person who created it was sad for wasting so much time on a meaningless video.

So, let’s vote on it, what do you think?  Amazing or sad?

Give me 1 min of your time and I will make you gasp

First, tickets for the Edinburgh Secret Society’s Halloween event will go on sale at 10 a.m. today.  Details here.

Second, David Molnar kindly brought my attention to ‘stick bombs’.  I hadn’t seen these before, but it is a way of threading together flat sticks to create a structure that then explodes when you remove one stick.  Here it is in action….

Do you like it?  Ever tried it?

On Friday I posted this puzzle….

John and Erica live together and between the two of them have three chores to perform. The chores are (i) vacuuming the floors, (ii) mowing the lawn and (iii) feeding the baby. Each of the chores takes thirty minutes, and they only have 1 vacuum cleaner, 1 mower and 1 bottle of milk. What is the shortest amount of time in which John and Erica can complete the chores?

If you have not tried to solve it, have a go now. For everyone else the answer is after the break.
