Here is a stunning version of the cafe wall illusion…..

It is difficult to believe, but all of the horizontal lines are straight and parallel. Impressed?

Is this a photograph of the representation of that illusion in Bristol? I keep meaning to go down there and photograph it myself!

Really wild – you’d sweat they are convergent but then they are not

I’ve seen this before and it can really mess with you head! If you put a piece of paper up to it and block each line you can see it is straight horizontal lines…. but I like it..lol….

all are parallel lines.
It looks zig zag because of the vertical patterns.
While looking every two ajdacent lines, you can find the pattern.

Is this version in someones house? Do like this illusion as it’s so simple but very effective. Would love to do my own paving or mural version someday.

I agree, this would look great in a bathroom. A classic illusion.

Yeah….put it up in the bathroom at a pub or bar…lol….

I’m impressed all right

As that is a classical illusion less impressed as interested. Especially I’d like to know if that pattern was laid intenionally to create that illusion or if it was just a lucky accident.

Interestingly, if you blur your eyes a little bit you can see that they are indeed parallel but while in full focus they look all wonky

i am stunned. I thought it was the floor but instead it was a wall. GASP

It’s easy to focus on each of the rows separately, to see that they are parallel. But all together it’s amazing.

I also see movement in this. Which is odd since in most of the movement type illusions I don’t see it.

ditto

It’s great that someone actually recreated that illusion on a wall. It looks fantastic.

Hardly surprising. Horizontal lines are always straight and parallel barring curvature of the Earth. More impressive that the apparently curved lines in the wall turn out straight.

It seems to move too.
