First up, talented magician and mate Pete Firman is performing at London’s South Bank on Saturday. If you enjoy good magic and many a laugh, please go and see him (details here). Second someone sent me this on Twitter yesterday (unfortunately I have now lost the tweet so please let me know who you are and I will say thank you!)…..I think it is amazing….
but the question is……does it move for you?

No, it doesn’t move for me. It seems as thought it’s about to begin to, and then it seems like something interferes to snap it back to 2d.
Yes, it does.
No, it doesn’t. Maybe I haven’t had enough to drink? I’ll remedy that.
ti doesn’t move for me, but I have perhaps had too much to drink.
It does move, just slightly though.
It almost seems to, but nowhere near as much as other illusions. And none of the central area even hints at it.
I’m going to say no.
Yes. And some of the previous ones didn’t, for me.
The large ring is slowly turning anti clockwise.
It does a tad. I’ve see this same illusion without the smiley in the middle but another ring and it worked much better.
It depends on my distance to the monitor. If I come closer it moves, if I look from a distance then it stops moving. So I guess it should covert at least a certain portion of your field of view to work.
Yes, the outer right only is turning counter-clockwise very slowly.
It doesn’t move but it’s FREAKING ME OUT!
Only slightly.
The smiley seems to ‘anchor’ the whole image. It does ‘float’ though.
Only if I focus on the face, then the outer ring moves very slightly. However, if I focus on one of the eyes, it turned into a sun, with a halo of wavy rays.
No movement on this computer
If you don’t move your eyes, it stops. When you scan across, it shifts.
Yes, I noticed it moving most while I was reading the last couple of lines of text above the image.
good. s. it does for me . but postion of the ring with respect to dots does not change. amazing
It makes me feel ill. Only move very slightly, though.
yes, it does but only when I let my eyes wander on the page, not when I focus on it.
yes ,it does
i like to see stationery but moving things like this.
Moves for me
Yes – not only does it move, but it appears to change colour too. A nice illusion.
No movement for me irrespective of my viewing distance – I feel left out
!
those dots are dancing!
It kinda moves jerkily, a little bit when my eyes move from one point of the image to another.
same here
not at all while still but if I slowly move the screen up or down then the rings start to move very fast counter clockwise otherwise no movement at all.
It moves, but not as vividly as others images of its kind.
no
No movement for me
Yes. The big ring moves slowly anticlockwise, the small ring moves even more slowly clockwise and the spots seethe slightly.
Not I, but speaking of magic, I caught you on Derren Brown’s show yesterday and it was great. I had to watch it on YouTube, though, for I am in the States.
Nope – no moving
yes, it’s moving
It only moves for me when I am staring at one of the corners of the image. Staring at the face in the centre doesn’t work.
It starts to move for me and then I try to look at the movement and it stops. It doesn’t work as well as most of the others that have been posted here.
Yeah it moves for me!
That smiley is AWESOME!
Eh, it’s pretty terrible. I’d say it’s something awful.
Didn’t move at first, but if I focus on the smiley the outer ring does slowly turn counterclockwise.
It somewhat moves for me, when I am not directly looking at it. If I look at the picture it stops.
its doesnt move for me
It looks 3D, but doesn’t really move. If I move my eyes across the image, it will continue moving for an instant after my eyes stop moving. Most of the other illusions haven’t worked for me, so maybe it has something to do with my monitor.
No. Not bit. Not at all. No movement whatsoever.
Although some of your previous ‘mobile’ static illusions have appeared to move for me, though.
Alarmingly so, in one case!
Strange. I wonder what the difference is?
dots wobbling, rings moving – very slowly though.
Most of the previous ones have moved. This one does not.
Nope
No movement here.
Dots dancin, outer circle counter clockwise, inner circle clockwise (I’m tired, I need glasses!)
It moves, but very slowly and only when I don’t look at the smiley directly.
Yes, but only very slightly and if I keep my eyes moving. If I stare directly at one spot it stays still.
It doesn’t, which is strange, ’cause these types of illusions usually work on me.
no it doesn’t – what does that mean about me ???
Yes, but rather than it moving, it makes me feel like I am the one moving. Should be fun with some suitably psychedelic music on. I shall have to have a look through the others…
It moves, but only when I shift my focus from one part of the image to another (in which case the rings appear to rotate in opposite directions). The effect is only slight, however.
You’ve clearly been using too much 4chan.
nah, it’s wank
Yes it moves for me; the bigger circle goes anti-clockwise. Very clever.
nope, it doesn’t.
it does for me
The outer circle moves very slowly counter-clockwise. Is that what you’re seeing? It’s nothing I would get excited about, so I’m guessing you see something else.
Well that’s weird – when I looked at it early this morning, it was practically static, but now that I’m looking at it later in the afternoon, it is spinning like crazy. I wonder if it has anything to do with writing documents on the computer all day?
It’s moves like half a centimetre each time I blink or move my eyes, but then it stops. It doesn’t spin, if thats what happens for you…
It’s a very poor mix from http://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/~akitaoka/index-e.html
Sorry. Original is simply better.
The blue dots move, but I don’t see a lot going on with the rings.
From where I normally sit it doesn’t move, but if I get really close to the monitor it begins to.

It moves when I scroll the page.
No, it doesn’t
I took it back. It does move very very slowly.
Nope, doesn’t do it for me.
It slides around a little if I wave my eyes around.
THATS IT! IVE HAD IT ALREADY! I WAS TRYING TO KEEP IT IN BUT I CANT! IM GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE IT MY SCREEN SAVER!
Moves on Mac screen but not on iPhone. What’s that all about?
No it does not move
[...] [...]
It seems about to move, but then my mind tacks it back down. So not, it doesn’t move but it’s a bit creepy.
Yes, and no!
Distance from monitor doesn’t matter to me. It seems like the outer ring is trying to rotate counter-clockwise, slowly, and the inner clockwise even slower, yet as I watch they don’t really move, just look like they are “trying” to do so.
Printed it out and the result is the almost same, though less “trying” to move. The floating square illusion a few months back DID float, even on paper.
It’s not a very good one, but it slightly moves
It didn’t move for me when I viewed it on my iPod touch, but on my computer monitor it does.
Scroll the screen a small increment up and down very quickly… some mover!
doesn’t move
That’s a No for movement but a Yes for massive headache.
Loads of movement!
it made my head spin two differnt ways
Yes, and so does your Twitter background, which made my eyes hurt!
For me, it looks like the larger of the two circles is trying to move but it can’t get past that inertia….
which is…
weird!
What about this one? Not sure where it’s from originally.
