Quite frankly, I love it. What makes it especially interesting is that very little of it is CGI. So, here is the question – can you identify the CGI? The answer is out there on You Tube, but I will post a short solution later on.

Leo Laporte had an interview with the creators.
I remember the diamonds and bottle effect was done with a fake hand using fake diamonds and bottle and then attached to the real arm in post production
Everything else was real and done in a single shot.
They even had a contraption where the actor sat and transfered him the horse that was next to the half boat they built on the beach.

The one effect that Leo Laporte’s interview with the creators didn’t analyse was: Where is the water going after it leaves the shower head?
When the shower set is lifted, the falling water seemingly disappears halfway down the wall. This must surely be the single instance of CGI.
Of course, the superimposed ‘Diamonds/Bottle’ shot and the removal of the horse-mounting contraption are computer manipulation, but not true CGI.

Simple – they turned the water off when they lifted up the shower set.

Not quite – We would have seen the last of the water falling past the wall – instead it just disappeared halfway down the wall in a blur. If you turn off the water, you would see the last of the water fall with a dry space above at it clears, this water had the dry space below it and therefore cannot have been real. To have used real water filmed and superimposed (as with the diamonds in the hand) would a be near-impossible trick due to the problem of the background showing through the water.

more importantly… what is the psychological trick being employed through the “look at your man- now look at me” device and what is the significance of the his final statement… “I’m on a horse”? any ideas?

I see you can also hover your cursor over the upward pointing arrow on the bottom right of the video controls, then click on the little control that pops up… now you can copy & paste the URL. Didn’t know that before!
I’ve not seen the one where he’s riding the horse backwards.

Nick when I was watching the clip the horse one came up as one of the next to choose from…….I think the only CGI is the guy.lol…..know how to find the one that Tom posted showing how it was made? Can’t see that one either? Wonder what up with that?

What an ad! What caught my eye as “off”:
When the man walks over to the side of the boat, leaning towards the railing, the movement of his head and the lifting of the oyster shell become very jerky, like segmented images not flowing smoothly.
Also, the man looks superimposed in the bathroom.
