Congratulations to @Japanjin for winning the poll yesterday with ’68 other people can’t be wrong’ – it seems that self-deprecating humour works wonders on Twitter.
So, to the Friday puzzle. the last couple of puzzles have been logic based, so thought it would be good to mix things up with something visual. How many pandas are there in the following image?
As ever, feel free to say how long it took, but please don’t post your answer. Solution on Monday.

I found several in about 30 seconds… however I won’t be surprised if it turns out I missed a few!
I knew it – spotted another one already!
You can see as many as you like. Remember – Believing is Seeing
Just the pandas and not the badger…right?
Quite an easy one! About 5 seconds…
About 20 seconds, I hope I didn’t missed one ^^
I can see a bunch, although expect any more than, say, 2 is simply pareidolia
Well, if you’re going to be that picky, there are no pandas in the image.
Also, is it really pareidolia if the artist intentionally drew them to look like pandas? How is that any more pareidolia than any drawing of a panda?
Well no. Was just being a bit of a smartarse, actually.
Considering that pandas are usually living beings of the black and white variety, as opposed to the rock face variety, then there’s only two. Abstract pandas though….well I can’t be bothered counting.
“but please don’t post your answer” fail
and it’s a shame you missed them all!
You’re basing this on the assumption that people are blind. I don’t think it’s a matter of figuring out what other objects form panda faces but exactly how extensively drawn they are.
10 minutes. Found:
– a lot of pandas
– a badger
– an old guy
– a fish
( while posting this i found another panda )
Does pandaidolia count too?
30 seconds, almost missed the other two!
Assuming I’m not missing any about 30 seconds. However it’s late and my vision is a bit blurrier than usual from my contacts.
Longer I look, more I see. 3 mins and convinced I’ve not seen then all yet! Interesting how once seen, they become so obvious!
Finally 1 I can do!
Hm, I see more animals and some resemble the head of a panda, but not the complete panda .and one of their heads are not really perfect panda like (lion?) .. .. and also a “seemingly copulating” set of 2 panda’s (what’s that with the high back! Weird the b/w panda on the left).
But I counted and pushed aside those ‘doubts”. Now we hope we learned to count well. It’s hard in english ..
Ceci n’est pas une panda
I think the longer I look at it, the more pandas I see. It’s like clouds: if you look for long enough, you can see anything you want to.
As well as asking how long it took to find the pandas, it would also be interesting to see how long some people spent coming up with a ‘witty’ comment to accompany their answer (err, myself included).
I think the word ‘witty’ is stretching it a bit.
The use of inverted commas was very intentional.
Several things that looks like pandas as well as the obvious 2.
Also:
Mole
Sheep/goat
Badger
okay, where is this mysterious badger?! I’m only seeing pandas!
For some reason I can’t get that Panda jingle from South Park out of my head.
This one is better than counting sheep. Zzzz …
They kept appearing for about a minute. Then nothing…
At least ten minutes. Not sure I have them all, though. Excellent puzzle.
Just a few secs for quite a few pandas.
less than a minute to see all the pandas, but suddenly I wonder, is how many pandas or how many panda images? because one could say that the other “Pandas” are not really pandas due to the fact that they in essense doubling as other objects.
By that logic, there are no pandas.
I forgot to say: Oh my God it’s full of Pandas! (2001)
Also: It’s pandaidolia! Haha!
alright Phil, that’s enough of that.
I found the hidden pandas within seconds, probably because I’d been primed by the “how many can you find…?”
I’m convince there’s at least one I’m missing.
convinced, not convince.
I saw several before I even read the text. I looked at the picture for just a few seconds. We’ll see if I missed any.
It take me like three minutes found …. pandas!
It was taking some time to solve until I re-read the question…giggled madly..with the answer.
I found lots instantly.
Saw them right away, then spent about a minute looking for more. I think I got them all but maybe not.
a minute, but not sure that I got them all..
A ridiculous amount of them, I would say.
This is a trick, right? While I’m looking for pandas a gorilla waltzes across the screen and I don’t see it??
Plenty pandas …
Too many pandas… but I can’t see any badger or fish
But I think I saw a dog
I’m less concerned with how many pandas there are than I am with the fact that the one panda’s head appears to be falling off.
not very long, but I was busy counting pandas, rather than seconds
How wud everyone feel if I told you Richard, my three year old Grandson found nine. He can only count up to ten.
It depends on what you understand under “pandas” when you ask “How many pandas do you see?”.
it’s amazing how many people waste time back-sassing each other. and i know i’m doing it too. heehee, sorry. i opened this page cause i had to doa assignment about animals, and i found people virtually argueing. and not to be mean or anything, but what r u guys, rocket scientists?; writing comments like this. it’s the new care-free era, get used to it.
i’m sorry for wasting whoever read this’ time, but if you were one of those people who do nothing but insult people online, i geuss reading this is the highlight of our day.
