What does this remind you of?

I often wonder what kind of people read this blog.  I guess there are several ways of finding out.  One of the least reliable, but most fun, involves you all looking at an inkblot and saying what you see, and me providing a unique assessment of your personality and unconscious mind.  So, in the spirit of dodgy science, lay back on my imaginary couch and take a look at this….

Rorschach_blot_02

OK, what does the image look like to you?  Be honest and don’t hold back.  I will post my assessment tomorrow.

  1. Mike Says:

Two twin gnomes with one bloody foot each giving each other a high-five.
..I don’t know if I want to know what that means about me :P

  2. Richard Saunders Says:

A older male face… with beard.

  3. Les Floyd Says:

    Two witches breakdancing.

  4. Jeff Wagg Says:

Nothing very clear.. but the word “cat” keeps repeating in my mind.

  5. Carl Says:

Two little men with hats and robes hi-five-ing each other.

  6. Swoopy Says:

First I saw a turkey. Now I’m pretty sure it’s two male gnomes kissing.

    • Bucket Says:

That’s great I saw a turkey too, but after reading all the comments, it does look a whole lot more like high five-ing gnomes.

  7. carr2d2 Says:

it’s two old ladies with red beehives sharing a high five. obviously :D

  8. Bruce Says:

I looked at it for a while and it looked like an ink splodge. I had to really use my imagination for a while longer and then I saw parts of a face – the lower two parts of the top 2 pink splodges being eyes with the top middle grey part as a nose complete with two nostrils. Part of the white space below forms a jaw line.

Not much of a face. :(

  9. exp_err Says:

A woman’s pelvis, I’m afraid. Second to mind was two people sitting facing each other, playing a clapping game.

    I’m with the Hi-five gnomes…

  16. Davide Says:

Yeah, two people with red faces pressing palms against each other.
I can also kind of see a face with an open mouth in the gaps.. but then I read somewhere that psychologically human brains see faces in random objects more often because we have such a large percentage of brain dedicated to recognizing faces.

  17. Travis Says:

I see two elves, each with a red boot and a red hat, giving each other a high-five.

  18. Alex Garner Says:

    It’s a couple of gnomes high-fiving!

  20. Eric Says:

  21. Eph Zero Says:

Oh, there were no other comments when I started typing. I’m very relieved that I’m not the only one who saw the gnomes.

  22. Melissa Says:

Two women with beehives dancing and kicking their feet together.

  24. Travis P Says:

I’m seeing the two gnomes giving each other a high five as well.

  25. Notatheist Says:

I clearly see Jesus Christ in that picture. Seriously though, the only thing that looks like anything to me is somewhat of a face, that’s Pareidolia though. I also clearly see a top down view of a jet fighter, just the white part in the middle, which forms it’s outline again, Pareidolia.

  26. Davide Says:

Looking at it more now it kind of looks like 2 of these monkeys clapping hands: http://veryveryfun.com/pics/Snow-Monkey/Snow-Monkey-2.jpg

    • Nikki Says:

And, no I didn’t look at anyone else’s answers. Whizzed straight to the bottom of the page.
This reply section could really do with being at the top so no one can nick another’s ideas. The temptation to read is just too strong and will colour your own responses.
I’m a genuine gnome-spotter, as is the person at the top of the page, but how many gnome people in the middle can we be sure of?

  81. Sander Says:

I see a Rorschach test having its period while wearing two Christmas hats.

Two people in black baggy clothes high-fiving while sat either side of a table which for some reason makes me think they’re playing chess despite no sign of either the table or chess board. Oh, and they have red pointy hats on like Gnomes as someone suggested but they don’t seem like gnomes to me though – they could be umpa-lumpas…no, actually those characters in Cat in a Hat more like. Most odd how my imagination starts filling in a whole back story for them too!

Yep. Two Dumbo elephants dancing in sync with their red hats thrown off in the air.

  122. Flesh-eating Dragon Says:

I’ve already said that I see organs, but because this was obviously influenced by the red colour I was curious about what I’d see if I looked at the negative.

Answer: a couple of witches dancing, one leg of each witch covered in slime. Perhaps a third witch, not shown, is throwing paint bombs at the two dancing witches.

    • Christopher Says:

Ooh, I hadn’t thought of looking at the negative. *hits command-option-control-8*

Definite face for me. (I’m in the bloody gnomes camp for the positive)

    …. lungs …

  138. Rachel :) Says:

I see the two orange blobs at the top of the picture as gates or a door way, and the rest of the symetrical grey ink as an army in line order and ready to go through them :)

Oh and the two smalled red bloches at the bottom of the picture looks like a flys head…you know? with the big eyes and the rest of the face is kinda flat…

Right! Judging by the other comments i’ve written something totally weird but i wont change it because thats what i saw :D

  139. Maria Aa Says:

Firstly I think it looks like two weird shaped humans holding hands.

Two blokes with pointy hats, squatting down facing each other, palms pressed together.

  141. Sabrina Says:

I see two dwarf elephants touching trunks tenderly. Each is kicking around its own football, while the empty thought bubbles above their heads suggest they lack an active inner life.

  142. James Says:

At first I saw what most saw: two gnomes/elves hi-5ing or dancing, then a brief moment later I saw a face, upturned, crying out in despair (loss). Weird.

    • James Says:

… and now, because the “nose” appears pointy and sharp, I see a vampire bat (but a non-threatening, innocent, caught-in-the-headlights vampire bat … none of the evil connotations). I think the more I say the more likely it is that a team of men will arrive at my house tomorrow with a straight-jacket … I’ll keep any more insights to myself.

  143. D Says:

My period when it was awful and terrible and clotting.

  144. Chrissie Says:

  150. D.B Says:

    An inkblot :P or 2 russian-look-a-like chicks giving hi5

  151. ViolaMaths Says:

Two traffic cones at the top. The blackish/brownish bits look like tarmac, with blood on them. The pointy bits in the upper middle look like missiles or the front of a plane, which is about to take off.

  152. Michelle Says:

Two gnomes doing a high five!

  153. Tim Says:

    Two kissing elephants …

  154. Assaf Says:

    Two jews dancing.
Why jews? Well, it reminds me in some way the old pre-WW2 communities in eastern europe. Can’t really explain why. And can’t fit the weird red hats into this scheme either. But it looks somewhat russian, or east-european.

    • Assaf Says:

And, of course, in my culture gnomes (which other have seen in the images) are virtually non-existant, so I guess it explain why I didn’t see those.

  162. bfgray Says:

Two little men (smurfs?) with red hats and one red boot each dancing?

  163. Dave Rattigan Says:

Two guys playing pat-a-cake. It didn’t occur to me that they were gnomes. I just thought they were wearing bearskins and red woolly hats.

As I delved deeper, I concluded they had both lost their legs, and only the bloody stumps remained.

  164. Emma Says:

A face with it’s mouth wide open, screaming!

  165. Jarak Says:

My mother and ex conspiring against every hope I have ever had and celebrating my misery.

So two gnomes high five-ing just like most others.

I can also see the white aeroplane, but that came later, gnomes had been extinct for 100s of years before the first heavier than air flight.

  166. SemiColon Says:

Yep two men with red hats high-fiving, whilst simultaneously kicking each other in the shins hard enough to draw blood.

Dancing bears (with blood, i guess)

  173. Margaret Morgan Says:

Two witches with red hats, high-fiving each other.

  174. I Have No Issues Says:

Anyone who thinks these tests actually reveal anything about anyone is kidding himself.

This one’s a no-brainer, anyway. It’s obviously two typical women laughing at a man behind his back and plotting to hurt him by CHEATING ON HIM. The red bits are the blood dripping down after the man takes revenge by SHOOTING THEM with a KALASHNIKOV. I’ve no idea what the glaring phallus is about. Probably a dig at men with undersized genitals.

    Rorschach “test” my eye. Unscientific.

  175. proxikid Says:

    Two dancers in costume.

  176. mylittlestitches Says:

I saw s browny red smudge with a hole in and instantly thought “anus” but then I looked properly and saw to men in some sort of traditional ethnic dress… maybe greek but i culdn’t recognise the country it came from, just thought it was a traditional garb, facing one another, hands together, legs together.

A squished moth with blood around it.

yep – pretty much the same, but mine was hedgehogs wearing hats rather than gnomes.

  180. koelschgirl Says:

    Two dancing dwarfs

  181. Paul Freeman Says:

My first thought was two women sitting together, giving each other a hi-5.

Why women? I don’t know, I think because they have bright coloured boots on, and are sitting closer then two men might, and with the hats as well it all influences that first flash image. But the hi-5 is prominent.

  182. teresa szwarnowska Says:

Two rhinos fighting or two people (russian ) dancing. I am so boring, sorry!

  183. bozri Says:

    1. close-up: i saw a calm smile old man face, n he z rich, coz his beard shaped well. lol…. and his jaw slightly up…

  184. Erin Says:

Two garden gnomes, high fiving with bloody severed legs. I feel so generic now :(

  185. EmilyT Says:

    It looks like an inkblot…

Or if you want a little more creativity, it looks like two old twin ladies with red hair and red tights giving each other a high-five.

  186. EmilyT Says:

Haha I love Coupaman’s the best so far:

    PS:
this time I saw a fashion female model, who stands still at a dark background.

Counting up the various spellings of “pat-a-cake” in this comment thread, here’s what I find at the time of writing (not necessarily the time of publishing).

    Patty-cake: total 11; with hyphens 7; without hyphens 4.
    Pat-a-cake: total 5; with hyphens 4; without hyphens 1.
    Other: total 2; Patti-cake 1; Patter-cake 1.

Despite this, it’s blatantly obvious that “pat-a-cake” is correct (stands to reason, anyone who says “patty-cake” is dangerous heretic, etc, etc). Wikipedia reveals that the “patty cake” spelling goes back to at least 1765, which goes to show that heresy has always been with us.
