OK, it’s a simple but tricky one this week. Below is a painting of a tiger in the jungle, but can you find the hidden tiger in the picture?

PLEASE do not post the answer, but do feel free to say if you have solved it (no googling!) and how long it took. I will post the solution, and appropriate credits for the illustration, on Monday. I have also extended the caption competition (see post below) till Monday too, so still time to win a free copy of 59 Seconds by submitting your entry. Have a good weekend.

About a minute. No, scratch that. About 59 seconds.
July 3, 2009 at 7:08 am
Ditto. *chortling at puzzle answer*
July 3, 2009 at 7:09 am
Y’know, it took me a few long seconds to see it, and now I can’t NOT see it.
July 3, 2009 at 6:20 pm
not even messing, took me about 2 seconds lol.
its a good one though!
lots of people seem to have gotten it fairly quick, wonder why?
July 3, 2009 at 7:08 am |
Yes I can see it it took about 20 seconds
July 3, 2009 at 7:27 am |
I’d seen it before – but I thought the similar “Third Zebra” one was more subtle.
July 3, 2009 at 7:28 am |
Yes. 5 seconds.
July 3, 2009 at 8:02 am |
Ha! Good one! About a minute…
July 3, 2009 at 8:19 am |
Too easy again! About 10 seconds.
July 3, 2009 at 8:21 am |
Took me a couple of 5-minute staring sessions. I’m slow.
But it’s morning, and no coffee yet…
July 3, 2009 at 8:39 am |
5 seconds without reading the question, maybe that helped.
July 3, 2009 at 8:49 am |
Yay I did it! Tee-hee…
July 3, 2009 at 8:58 am |
Stared for 3 minutes…nothing – then ‘found’ it when not really looking for it…
July 3, 2009 at 9:05 am |
Got it in less than 5 seconds.
July 3, 2009 at 9:07 am |
About 15 seconds.
July 3, 2009 at 9:09 am |
about 15 seconds
July 3, 2009 at 9:09 am |
About 45 seconds.
July 3, 2009 at 9:12 am |
about one minute. genius
July 3, 2009 at 9:13 am |
Yeah, that was a quick one.
July 3, 2009 at 9:13 am |
oh my god….
this is dry
July 3, 2009 at 9:15 am |
about a minute
July 3, 2009 at 9:16 am |
Nice. About 12 seconds.
July 3, 2009 at 9:17 am |
Did not see it for ages, wasn’t really timing, then noticed it when my eyes started to glaze over. I like it.
When I first read and saw the image it reminded me of what my granddad uses to tell me when I was little. He had a large painting in his lounge of a forest with a river running through it and used to ask every week if I had found the Tiger yet. After a few weeks he said he’d show me. We went up to the painting and he quickly pointed and said “There! Oh, you missed it. It just went behind that tree” Grrrrrr. The time I spent staring at that picture before he said that.
Sorry for the random story/memory
July 3, 2009 at 9:21 am |
About five seconds … Right before I started to turn my laptop upside-down.
July 3, 2009 at 9:29 am |
Well, I’ve seen this before at the Mighty Optical Illusions site so my results can’t really count.
July 3, 2009 at 9:35 am |
I know I cant see very well and I am old..ish so will use that as an excuse for not seeing a thing.ha ha. I need a lie down.
July 3, 2009 at 11:22 am
Oh for goodness sake…ha ha ha ha ha..amazing what a nice cuppa can do for the brain.Got it now.
July 3, 2009 at 9:36 am |
About half a minute. Nice one
July 3, 2009 at 9:39 am |
Looked at this and did not see it at all.
Then went off and did some other things.
Came back and saw it instantly.
I suspect that the things that I did in between “woke up” certain parts of my brain that had not really been used this morning. I guess that I primed myself.
July 3, 2009 at 9:40 am |
It took me about a minute.
July 3, 2009 at 9:40 am |
I found two in two minutes, but neither are particularly satisfactory, so I’m assuming that there’s a better one to be found in there.
July 3, 2009 at 9:50 am |
Got it almost straight away. I think I may have seen it before, which would explain how I got it so fast.
July 3, 2009 at 9:52 am |
A good look plus seconds and the answer was staring at me in the face.
July 3, 2009 at 9:52 am |
Yup.
July 3, 2009 at 9:52 am |
Whoo! Got it in about 20 seconds. XD
This is my first comment in your site, btw.
A great site it is, too!
July 3, 2009 at 9:54 am |
20 seconds or so, then I had a good laugh once I saw it.
July 3, 2009 at 9:57 am |
I must not be awake this morning and I’m not feeling great so I think my brain has stopped working! I could not see it and was so frustrated with it, I got my husband to tell me as he annoyingly saw it in about a minute.
July 3, 2009 at 9:59 am |
I found it within a minute 2 in 2 weeks wow
July 3, 2009 at 10:11 am |
Tried to find it for about a minute or two “the usual way”, then the answer stared at me. Genius. And a bit mean.
July 3, 2009 at 10:14 am |
5 minutes and counting. Am I the only one???
July 3, 2009 at 10:15 am |
Good one! I’d say it took about a minute or two. Laughed when I got it.
July 3, 2009 at 10:25 am |
30 seconds
Too easy
July 3, 2009 at 10:29 am |
1hr 50 minutes before I found it!
July 3, 2009 at 10:39 am |
Spotted it straight away
July 3, 2009 at 10:40 am |
Man, heck with you. Took me like two minutes. I dislike puzzles like this.
July 3, 2009 at 10:43 am |
Took about a minute – I spent the first 59 seconds barking (growling?) up the wrong tree entirely!
July 3, 2009 at 10:47 am |
Hidden tiger leapt out at me straight away. I looked for the obvious.
July 3, 2009 at 10:48 am |
I can’t see any tiger just an image of Michael Jackson!
July 3, 2009 at 10:55 am |
Nearly went cross eyed looking for a magic eye picture. Zooming the picture large size gave it away though
July 3, 2009 at 11:06 am |
I didn’t see it at all at first. For some reason I’ve found that just reading about how people found the solution in 5 seconds helps me to solve it myself (this is an interesting research hypothesis in itself). The solution makes sense.
July 3, 2009 at 11:07 am |
Took me about 15 seconds and then I laughed…good one”
July 3, 2009 at 11:33 am |
Can I find it? Yes
July 3, 2009 at 11:59 am |
about 2 seconds
July 3, 2009 at 12:13 pm |
20 s, haven’t seen this, good one
July 3, 2009 at 12:42 pm |
Found crouching tiger; no report on hidden dragon, yet…
July 3, 2009 at 1:06 pm |
Figured out what to look for pretty much immediately but still took 2-3 mins to actually find it
July 3, 2009 at 1:09 pm |
yep … about a minute
July 3, 2009 at 1:17 pm |
I think I can see the tiger, took me a couple of minutes.
July 3, 2009 at 1:49 pm |
Haha, about 30 sec, nice picture!
July 3, 2009 at 1:53 pm |
Heh. just got it. Took me a while. Clever tho!
July 3, 2009 at 2:07 pm |
I find a wolf is the same? And now I can’t don’t see it! Uff… try and try!
July 3, 2009 at 2:08 pm |
Oh I see!!! Ahahahahah
July 3, 2009 at 2:09 pm |
>>OK, it’s a simple but tricky one this week.
Eh?
That’s an easy but difficult question to answer.
July 3, 2009 at 2:43 pm |
Kinda reminds me of the rock poster/ album art produced by Rick Griffin. Cool.
The time??? What’s time to a tiger?
July 3, 2009 at 3:01 pm |
I got the wrong answer in about a minute-knew it was wrong because it wasn’t a “puzzle” answer. Took a moment to read the replies, had a brain wave and went back and saw it in about 10 seconds.
It is obvious now, but I like it
July 3, 2009 at 3:18 pm |
Finally saw it – took about 5 minutes
July 3, 2009 at 3:22 pm |
Inmediatly, but I love it!
July 3, 2009 at 3:26 pm |
Ha-ha! I got it within a minute, but only because I have a gaggle of 10-year-olds that have been tricking me with this kind of riddles all week! Excellent. Now I will have my revenge!
July 3, 2009 at 3:35 pm |
I thought I was going to fail at this one but I SEE IT I SEE IT I SEE IT!!! Took me ages, though. A few minutes before work, several more a while ago, then around 30 seconds when I came back to it just now.
July 3, 2009 at 3:36 pm |
Although I had seen it before I couldn’t remember where it was, but then I got it. Maybe 2 seconds?
July 3, 2009 at 3:45 pm |
Saw that one pretty much immediately.
July 3, 2009 at 4:03 pm |
Yes I found it, took about 30 secs??
July 3, 2009 at 4:19 pm |
Found it after about three minutes. Too early in the morning for this sort of thing.
July 3, 2009 at 4:29 pm |
that took round 10 seconds
July 3, 2009 at 5:23 pm |
Excellent – haven’t seen that one before ….. oh, a minute-ish
July 3, 2009 at 5:30 pm |
Got it in an instant. But I sort of cheated because I already saw this on MOIllusions. Still great though.
July 3, 2009 at 5:40 pm |
13 seconds
July 3, 2009 at 6:37 pm |
It was easy… 10-15 seconds
July 3, 2009 at 6:47 pm |
AH come on Richard , the lack of parentheses is very misleading!
July 3, 2009 at 7:00 pm |
I liked this one! Took me about 30 seconds.
July 3, 2009 at 7:14 pm |
I saw it within 20 seconds, I’d say. My wife spent minutes (with me pretending not to watch her like a vulture) and she finally gave up in disgust. My hypothesis: If she had had the first go, and I the second, our performance would have been reversed. The watcher being watched, is prone to even more cognitive interference than a private person with no judging audience.
Ya think?
July 3, 2009 at 7:15 pm |
yes, about 10 seconds
July 3, 2009 at 8:24 pm |
Ahhhh – got it – had to navigate away and come back again, and there it was!
July 3, 2009 at 9:13 pm |
Some minutes but i got it. Although I had to enhance the picture in a image editor for “it” to become more “pronounced”.
July 3, 2009 at 10:46 pm |
After seeing a hidden tiger almost immediately, i thought, “that was too easy.” So i kept looking and after about a minute i found the answer. Tricky.
July 3, 2009 at 11:32 pm |
Oh what an idiot I am! Now I get it! Man, these things do nothing for my self esteem.
July 4, 2009 at 12:42 am |
Took about a minute then it popped out plain as day.
July 4, 2009 at 4:15 am |
Took me the best part of a day of puzzling. Some of the comments above misled me. I was thinking if I kept coming back to look eventually I’d see it.
Then, sitting in the barber’s chair, miles from the computer, the solution came to me, and it was hours before I had the chance to check whether I was right. Then it took 10 sections
July 4, 2009 at 5:27 am |
Took me about three seconds.
July 4, 2009 at 7:23 am |
That one puzzled me when I first saw it: with adequate dimensions of the picture (~thumbnail), I see an additional hidden tiger hidden in the leaves right of the tigers tail (the two yellow spots as eyes). But even under this not that positive conditions I was able to solve it in far less than a minute. For luck
July 4, 2009 at 9:40 am |
Seconds. I’ve seen it before on Facebook.
July 4, 2009 at 10:11 am |
About a minute, after squinting, staring, blurring pic and holding laptop at various distances!
July 4, 2009 at 11:02 am |
Wow, I’m usually terrible at these things but it only took me about 30 seconds.
July 4, 2009 at 1:50 pm |
Like these hidden pictures type of illusions. Got this one in about 15 seconds; I find the Third Zebra illusion better though.
July 4, 2009 at 4:11 pm |
5 seconds. yay!
July 4, 2009 at 8:51 pm |
Haha – about a minute to work it out, then about 2 seconds once I realised what I was looking for.
July 4, 2009 at 9:41 pm |
nothing, nothing, and then – breakthrough! took some 59 secs…
July 5, 2009 at 6:14 am |
Immediately. Luckily, I looked at the right place.
July 5, 2009 at 2:10 pm |
Funny. Could not see it at all Friday. Sunday morning – saw it at a glance.
July 5, 2009 at 2:59 pm |
Took me an 15 mins accumulated… over a period of 1 day.
July 5, 2009 at 5:13 pm |
Haha yes I got it after squinting and tilting my head a lot
July 5, 2009 at 6:54 pm |
Saw it in about 10 seconds.
July 5, 2009 at 9:04 pm |
I’m a little slow, Found it in about 2 minutes.
July 6, 2009 at 6:01 am |
Hehehe funny. I got it immediately as I watched the picture… first thing that popped up
July 6, 2009 at 10:32 am |
Can you believe it, all along I was looking for something with a tail
… Took me a good whole minute to change that perception!! Lol
August 1, 2009 at 1:12 pm |
Still haven’t found it, 20 mins
August 1, 2009 at 1:13 pm |
OMG just found it , quite spoky but clever
